She estimated me around 6W4D and was unsure before the ultrasound about how much we would see that early on. So I was definitely surprised that she saw the sac, baby and heartbeat RIGHT away. She turned the monitor and we got to see the baby and its heart beating away. It was the BEST thing ever....truly amazing...of course I had tears in my eyes when I saw that little heart beating strong and fast!:) Here are our baby's first pictures:
The best pictures I have ever seen if I do say so myself!;) After the ultrasound she again reassured me that the spotting was nothing to worry about and that the baby is clearly unaffected by it. I did have a bout of spotting right after the ultrasound and she just told me that I should take it easy the next two days. Try to stay off my feet and relax and she is confident that would clear up the cervical irritation quickly. She said that having the vaginal ultrasound didn't help the situation because the wand was rubbing against the area that was already irritated.
I am trying to not let the spotting get to me and staying positive if it happens in the future. I have talked to so many people and maybe out of 20 people...18 people had spotting in the first trimester. So it seems to happen more often then not so that is reassuring.
We are so trilled that everything is great with our little pumpkin. We decided today to spread the word to everyone who didn't already know. I have a tentative due date of October 8th or 9th. But, I have another appointment/ultrasound in March so the baby will be a little bigger for more definite measurements and a more concrete due date! Until then I am resting as much as possible....which isn't that big of a deal....I am so exhausted already....I could sleep like its my full time job!;)
