17 weeks

Still feeling great and I couldn't be more happy about it. I actually feel like I am in that weird stage where I don't have any pregnancy symptoms and I don't "feel" pregnant at all, but I have a definite bump. But, it's also not big yet, so when I am around people that don't know I am pregnant I feel like people are thinking "Why would that girl wear a shirt that tight when she has a chunky stomach?!" I am looking forward getting a little bigger so it's obvious to everyone!:)

We are chomping at the bit over here in anticipation of finding out what we are having!!! 18 more days...18...did I mention we only have 18 days left? It feels like an eternity!!! Until then I guess I will have to settle for the anticipation of our next appointment this Friday. I am excited to hear the baby's heartbeat again.

Either this week or next I am going to survey my students and ask them to guess what I am having and also what I should name the baby and chart their responses. I will take a picture of my chart and put it on here for anyone reading to have a good laugh. I can only imagine what 32 five-year-olds will say. Last time I asked them they unanimously agreed I was having a girl and that her name should be Annabelle!:)

Also, I finally got around to taking my monthly belly shot this weekend...only one week behind! Woot!:)
How far along? 17 weeks.
Total weight gain: I will find out this Friday...I am still guessing 5-10ish?
Symptoms: Feeling great, just wish I could find a comfortable position to sleep in.
Maternity clothes? Still mainly pants...I am working a few maternity tanks into the rotation though!;)
Best moment of this week: Feeling tiny flutters, hoping they get stronger soon!:)
Food cravings: Soft pretzels and Feta.
What I miss:  Drinking Coke any time I want!:)
What I am looking forward to: 18 Days until the BIG ultrasound!!!!!!

your baby's the size of an onion!
Baby continues to beef up. Now she's about 5.1 inches long and weighs about 5.9 ounces.

your baby at 17 weeks
  • Her rubbery cartilage is now turning to bone.
  • And she's growing some meat on those bones -- putting on some fat.
  • She's growing a stronger, thicker umbilical cord, too.
Here is what the bump is looking like at 4 months:

16 Weeks

Whew...made it to 4 months...Yay!!!! I am feeling pretty good, although today I've been in a funk. Nothing serious, I just can't seem to get comfortable and slept bad last night...I know..I know...it's only going to get worse!;)

So since I have been couch bound today, I have no 4 month belly pic to share. I will be sure to take one this week/weekend....I do have to say though....the baby has "officially" popped. Monday and Tuesday both sets of parents commented about it at work and I just kind of laughed it off and agreed. But, it wasn't until Wednesday when I was getting ready for yoga (and turned sideways in front of the mirror) that I truly noticed the full on bump....it official now!:)

How far along? 16 weeks.
Total weight gain: I am going to guess 5lbs or more.
Symptoms: Feeling great, just wish I could find a comfortable position to sleep in.
Maternity clothes? Good-bye to my non-maternity jeans, but I am still fitting into my shirts.
Sleep: Not requiring as MUCH sleep as before.
Best moment of this week: Having the kids at work notice my belly and talk to the baby....too cute!:)
Food cravings: ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
What I miss:  Cookie dough.
What I am looking forward to: 24 days until the BIG Ultrasound!:)

your baby's the size of an avocado!

Now, she's about 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces, and she's big enough that your doctor may be able to hear her heartbeat.

your baby at 16 weeks
  • She's listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in her ears.
  • She's growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
  • And she's forming taste buds.

Dear Baby Gap,

you confuse me....really you do. I mean it's no secret that you have some of the cutest baby clothes around....but why oh why are your prices online so much more than in the store?

My mom and I were at the Twelve Oaks Baby Gap last week and they had the CUTEST knit baby hats that (other than one that was a pink bunny) could be worn by either a boy or girl. Most of them were in a bin in the sale area marked anywhere from $8.99-$11.99. I picked up three to buy and when I went to the register I was shocked to learn they were ringing up for $2 and $3!!!! So I went back and got more and in the end pretty much bought every single style I could.

I really wanted the elephant and/or monkey one. But, when I went online to see if they had them they weren't EVEN ON SALE on the website and the ones on "clearance" in the store were still $8.99-$11.99?! Why is that? Anyway, I found the monkey one at Briarwood, so I guess I am on the hunt in the stores for the elephant one until they bring the prices down online. Here are some of the ones I bought (minus the bunny and sheep which I can't find a pic of online)....get ready to die from the cuteness...

Daddy Boot Camp

Travis is off for a Daddy Boot Camp class today with Kyle, Ryan and John. I am interested to hear what they are going to learn about. From the class description it looks like it is going to be taught by some dads who have infants and may or may not be bringing these infants in for the guys to "practice" on.

The whole thing sounds like a good idea to me. Travis said awhile back that he was "nervous" about doing everything right and he wanted know how to do everything for the baby. I thought that was sweet....and honestly...I think dad's should know HOW to DO everything for their baby...it's not a one person job!;)

15 Weeks

Feeling really good this week!:) It's almost like I am waiting to see each day IF I am going to start to feel nauseous again...and never do....which is wonderful!!! Especially since it was my Spring Break this week and because I was feeling well, I was able to get a lot accomplished around the house!:)

Annette and I went to Birch Run on Thursday and they had a TON of adorable baby stuff at several different stores. I bought a few boy and girl things that I couldn't pass up...they were such great deals! Only one more month until we find out what this little pumpkin is and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!:)

How far along? 15 weeks.
Total weight gain: I am going to guess 4lbs....but it feels like much more.
Symptoms: Starting to feel like my old self again!:)
Maternity clothes? Mainly pants, I only have 2 pairs of pants that are non-maternity that I can squeeze in at this point...still trying to squeeze into my shirts as much as I can.
Sleep: Not requiring as MUCH sleep as before.
Best moment of this week: Realizing that in ONE MONTH we will find out what we are having!
Food cravings: ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
What I miss:  Again, egg rolls.
What I am looking forward to: My next appointment on May 4th.

your baby's the size of a navel orange!
The average fetus at 15 weeks weighs 2.5 ounces and measures 4 inches -- and his proportions are becoming even more normal, since his legs now outmeasure his arms.
your baby at 15 weeks
  • You probably can't feel it yet, but she's squirming a ton!
  • She might even be hiccuping in there.
  • She's making lots of progress: her joints and limbs can all move now.

Our Registry is ALMOST

done. I know, I know, it seems early. Especially since we won't find out what we are having for another month. But, Travis and I had a free day so we went and registered for the things that we picked out before...stroller, car seat, pack n' play etc. Then my mom and I finished it up on Saturday with a few things that I wanted to check out in person again before adding them to the registry. I do have to say that I LOVE Buy Buy Baby. They are SO helpful. Especially when we were picking out the furniture and had a zillion questions. They are so patient and friendly, and best of all you get to use current Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons on their merchandise...BONUS!;)

So, it is done for now. The only thing that will change is the bedding. Right now we are registered for an owl girl bedding set and an owl boy bedding set with all the matching room decor. So, once we know what it is, we can remove one of them completely. Other than that, we are happy with what we picked out. Most of the essentials are gender neutral to hopefully use again with the second baby.

Here is a link if you are interested. Also, if you see that we are missing something that we are going to need please let me know!:)

Happy Easter and 14 weeks...

This week has been great. I've had a few headaches on and off, but I finally took some Tylenol Friday and it eventually kicked in! Oh, Ibuprofen how I miss you!!!!

We had our doctor's appointment on Friday and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time!!!! It was AWESOME! When my doc pulled the Doppler out she was telling me that it can take a few seconds to find the heartbeat, and not to freak out, but as soon as she set it on my abdomen we heard it right away!!! I was so shocked she found it so fast...the baby must have wanted to be in the exact right spot for mommy and daddy to hear it!:) She said that it sounds strong and exactly how she wants it to sound at this point. It started out in the high 150's and then was in the 160's the rest of the time. So, I don't know what to think of that? Is that high? Is it low? I am just glad that the baby is strong and healthy!:)

Other than that I am just so thankful that I am starting to feel like myself again. I am trying to enjoy each day that I feel good and knowing that the baby is doing great just makes it that much better!:) I love you my little pumpkin...hearing your little heart was the best gift of all this Easter!:)

How far along? 14 weeks.
Total weight gain: 3 lbs.
Symptoms: Starting to feel like my old self again!:)
Maternity clothes? Mainly pants, I only have 2 pairs of pants that are non-maternity that I can squeeze in at this point.
Sleep: Not requiring as MUCH sleep as before.
Best moment of this week: Hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time!!!!!:)
Food cravings: ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
What I miss:  Again, egg rolls.
What I am looking forward to: My next appointment on May 4th.

your baby's the size of a lemon!
At week 14, your baby is 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, he's almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing.
your baby at 14 weeks
  • He's probably sucking his thumb and wiggling his toes in there!
  • His kidneys are making urine, and his liver and spleen are doing their jobs, too.
  • And he's growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over his body -- it will help him keep warm!

I GOTS some questions for ya....

I am debating about a couple of things right now. I am doing research, reading reviews online, asking around at work etc. but I wanted to get some advice from people I know and trust on a few things. If you don't have an opinion, that is fine, just leave me a comment and let me know you are reading...I am not sure who is out there....but comments make me happy!:)

Okay, first thing, formula, what do you prefer? what do you think is best?
1. Enfamil or Similac?
2. Powder or Ready to Feed?
3. How do you prepare/store the water for powder?

Second, baby carriers, what did you use? which brand or style is best?
I have some lower back issues so I am trying to get the best one that disperses weight from the baby out front to the rest of my body and I can't find much info or reviews out there!

Baby Monitors....
1. Do you have a video one? If so, do you like it?
2. Which brand is best?
3. Does it interfere with your WI-FI?

Bottles....
1. Which brand worked the best for your baby?
2. I am currently looking at Avent or Born Free. Any recommendations? Everything I've heard/read said they are pretty comparable. I am just wondering opinions on how they work for baby, cleaning etc.

Last thing...What are FIVE things that you cannot live with out when it comes to baby gear?

I would love to hear your opinions, even if you are not a mom or mom-to-be, doesn't mean you haven't heard, seen or know  people who have used certain products out there!:) Thank you, it will really help me out!:)

13 weeks

I am happy to be out of the first trimester. I had a really good week. My energy was back and my nausea eased up a bit just in time for a week full of parent-teacher conferences. The past two days I have been getting sick either in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning...but, I'll deal with it. It's nothing I can't handle at this point, just hoping it ends for good soon!:)

I am getting SO excited to hear the baby's heartbeat this week. We have seen it beating twice, but haven't officially "heard" it yet. We have our next appointment this Friday and I can't wait!!!!

I have been thinking about the baby A LOT lately. I CAN'T wait to find out what it is. Just to be able to call it by it's name. I have to be honest it is driving me NUTS "not knowing" what it is. I have a gut feeling, we will see if I am right in about a month. I've just been a planner since birth so I can't wait to run with a boy or girl  owl themed nursery and do some MAJOR damage at some clothing stores!!!!!!:)

How far along? 13 weeks.
Total weight gain: I will officially be weighed in this Friday, but I am going to say 5lbs...all in my ace!;)
Symptoms: Not AS tired, not AS nauseous.
Maternity clothes? Pants and shirts.
Sleep: Not requiring as MUCH sleep as before.
Best moment of this week: One of my students drawing me for letter T week in her journal (teacher) and when I asked her who it was she said, "Mrs. Rolfe that is you, can't you see the big fat belly!" Oh, 5-year-olds...so honest!:) I was cracking up all day!
Food cravings: Cereal....I can't get enough of it!
What I miss:  Sushi
What I am looking forward to: Hearing the baby's heartbeat for the first time this Friday!!!!:)

your baby's the size of a peach!
She's about 2.9 inches long and weighs about .81 ounces, and -- proportion-wise -- her head's now about 1/3 the size of her body (remember? It used to be bigger!).

your baby at 13 weeks
  • Can you believe she's forming vocal cords and teeth?!
  • And even though she's still teeny, she already has fingerprints.
  • Her intestines are moving from the umbilical cord to their more permanent place, in her tummy.
